The small hill-top village of Lacoste in the Provençe region of southern France needed a new mark to brand materials for its historic preservation group, Foyer Rural. The resulting logo design uses a stylized image of the village’s campanile (bell tower), the most recognizable of four notable historic structures in Lacoste that the group wanted to include in their identity. A typeface of Roman/French origin was chosen, again, to try to be as representative of the local history and culture. The tagline, “Lacoste, hier et aujourd’hui” translates as “Lacoste, yesterday and today.”
